Time not right for bond
We believe the USD 232 School Board should have pulled the bond issue from this ballot because of the volatility in the markets and until such time as the economic situation has stabilized. If this bond issue passes, I believe patrons will be paying more for these bonds because of the volatile stock market. Six months could make a very big difference, both in the cost of the bonds and in the possible need for the bonds.
We already have one half empty high school and no one can predict the losses in student numbers because of foreclosures.
For the time being, we vote no on any additional bond money. The district should do what the taxpayers are doing — cut expenses and make do with what they have.
