Keep De Soto distrit’s momentum

October 22, 2008

I want to congratulate every administrator, teacher and support professional in the De Soto school district for the great news received regarding the performance of our children on the state testing for 2007-2008. Our district did make Adequate Yearly Progress in all subgroups and subjects identified for measurement. This means that we have correctly placed our faith and trust in the very competent professionals that have brought our children thus far in their educational journey. I have faith in their professional abilities to keep our kids moving forward in the future, as well.

For patrons and parents that have been watching the effects and progress of our schools facing the challenges of No Child Left Behind legislation enacted in 2001, this is the week that District and Building Report Cards" are published on the State Board of Education Web site.

I invite every taxpayer to explore the online report cards of every district and school building in our state and compare our performance in USD232 to other districts. We have a lot to celebrate.

Let's keep this momentum going and trust our school leaders that they are making educational decisions that are good for our children. Vote Yes Nov. 4 for the USD 232 bond issue. Oureducators deserve our support.
