Blues and BBQ organizers should consider one-day schedule
If you did not attend the De Soto Chamber of Commerce Blues and BBQ at Riverfest Park, you missed the event of the season. My guest and I were so impressed with
Friday night’s event — it was a perfect, festive evening and a salute to our community.
I was so excited that I rallied more friends to join me Saturday night. Much to my dismay, other De Soto parents were certain it was over by 3:30 [the event was to begin at 5:30 p.m. because they saw BBQ trucks driving out of De Soto.
I knew the posted hours and still arrived at 8 p.m. Much to my dismay, the festive air was gone as were most of the cars even though the headliner was in full song. I would suggest that next year the chamber consider having Saturday’s event as an all-day event, complete with the music—this would generate higher attendance and income, and all of the great food would be enjoyed along with the music.
Secondarily, please consider strategically placing directional signage to the park itself—it took me 20 minutes to find the park, and I live here.
The closing fireworks were absolutely breathtaking. I really am looking forward to attending next year.
Thank you for making De Soto proud.
