More space needed at high schools
Once again De Soto USD 232 is in the news about our upcoming bond issue. Voters please understand if this bond issue fails both high schools will be over capacity.
School board member Bill Flecther’s assertion citted in the Oct. 9 issue of The De Soto Explorer is incorrect. Mill Valley High School is built for 1,000 students, not 1,250.
It is already at capacity with an enrollment of about 986 students and a bubble of students coming up in the ranks.
Boundary changes, at that point, are moot. There’s won’t be enough room at either Mill Valley or De Soto high school for my child or for the child of anyone else.
It’s easy for Randy Johnson and Mr. Fletcher to go back on their word to support, or shall I say, not support, a vote NO campaign because neither of them has children in our district. This bond affects all of us, whether your children are pre-school or grown. Please do what’s best for the kids and vote YES on USD 232 bond issue.
