Akin earns Scout’s Eagle badge

Aaron Akin will receive Boy Scout’s highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout, at 2 p.m. Nov. 29 at a Court of Honor Ceremony at Harvest Ridge Covenant Church in Shawnee..
Aaron Akin, 13, is an eighth-grader at Mill Creek Middle School, and a member of Troop 123 Chartered to Community Covenant Church, both located in Lenexa. Aaron began Scouting as a first-grader when he became a Tiger Cub and stayed active all through Cub Scouts in Pack 3351. Aaron received the Arrow of Light Award, Cub Scouts highest honor in February 2006 before bridging to Boy Scouts.
To earn Scouting’s highest award, Aaron earned 29 merit badges, served as a leader in his troop as a Patrol leader, Scribe, Quartermaster & Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He also completed a major community service project.
Aaron’s Eagle Service Project consisted of building three picnic tables and four benches for the fire pit at Harvest Ridge Covenant Church. He and his coworkers put together and stained the three picnic tables as well as built the four benches by hand. Aaron is in the hopes that the picnic tables and benches will be used for years to come by the friends, members and youth of Harvest Ridge Covenant Church.
Aaron looks forward to staying active in his Troop for years to come.
