Library asks youngsters to “Blow Your Mind”
The Johnson County Library summer reading program began Tuesday.
The two reading programs "Catch the Reading Bug" for preschoolers to fifth-graders and "Blow Your Mind Metamorphosis at Your Library" for fifth-graders to twelfth-graders offer youth a chance in a grand prize drawing for participating.
In both programs, children are encouraged to set goals %for the amount of books they want to read and then keep track of the books they read on a reading log. There is no requirement on the amount of books that must be read or what books must be read to participate.
Participants also may submit one entry per visit to any branch for weekly prize drawings.
For the grand prize drawing, reading logs must be submitted between July 14 and Aug. 2 at any Johnson County Library branch.
The "Catch the Reading Bug" grand prize drawing is for the chance to be a star on a "Read" poster. At this level, there will be a grand prize winner at each branch. Those who finish their logs can pick up a prize paperback book at any branch between July 14 and Aug. 2.
