De Soto USD 232 to change phone numbers
July 29, 2008
Telephone numbers will change for De Soto USD 232 buildings located in De Soto.
The district paid AT&T a metropolitan fee for several years allowing patrons to call district buildings without paying long distance. After researching the fee, the district discovered it could eliminate the cost by using its current phone system to connect to another AT&T switch. The savings will add up to about $51,000 over three years.
Previous district phone numbers will work on a call forwarding system for about a year in order to help ease into the system.
The single telephone system allows all district buildings to use four digit extensions and staff will now be able to direct dial extensions in any building without using an outside line. This will keep the main lines open for parent and patron calls and save money by limiting the number of external telephone lines needed to complete calls.
Caller identification also will be available on all extensions.
