KDOT JoCo bridge projects to start

July 3, 2008

Weather permitting, repair work will start Monday on two Johnson County bridges.

The 79th Street Bridge over Interstate 435 in Johnson County will be closed to all traffic, including pedestrian, bicycle and motorist, during the duration of the bridge repair project. Repair work includes complete replacement of the eastern end of the bridge's abutment, deck and approach pavement. Work will take place daily during daylight hours throughout the project duration.

The I-435 and I-35 interchange project is being coordinated with a resurfacing project on I-35 during the same timeframe to help alleviate overall traffic concerns. All project work will take place during weekend closures only. Weekend bridge/ramp closures will start at 7 p.m. on Friday evening and all lanes will be reopened to traffic by 5 a.m. on Mondays.
