Lexington Trails squads open with victories
The Lexington Trails seventh-grade B team is 2-0 with wins over Basehor- Linwood, 28-27, and Clark Middle School, 30-9.
Zack Griffiths led all scores with nine points against Basehor and Liam McDaniel added five including a three-pointer that turned out to be the game winner.
Zach Freiling had four points while James Alldred, Alex Pruss, Jonny Hodges, Connor Nutterfield and Caleb Ray all added two each.
Griffiths was again the leading score in the game against Clark as he accord all seven of his points in the first quarter, helping the Panthers take a 16-0 lead.
They never looked back. Adonis Searls added six points and led the defense with seven steals. The scoring was rounded out by four points each from Ray and McDaniel, three from Noah Cardiff two each from Austin Gilbert and Zach Umholtz.
The seventh-grade A team split its first two games, losing to Basehor 50-20.
In that contest the boys got down 22-4 in the first quarter and were down 38-8 at halftime. Despite the huge deficit, the boys played the second half even and outscored the Basehor 7-6 in the final quarter.
Braiden Turne led the Panthers with seven points, while Corbin Clark had six. Hunter Peak added five. Josh Pasley led the team with eight rebounds.
The A team turned it around with a win against Clark Middle School. A back and forth battle for the first 3 quarter, the Panthers were finally able to pull away in the fourth quarter for a 34-27 win.
Clark led all scores with nine. Braiden Turner added eight including two three pointers. Ryan Stallbaumer scored six and Peak added five. Cardiff, Pasley and Alex Pruss added two each. Pasley also had a game-high 12 rebounds.
The next action for the Panthers is this Thursday at home against Tonganoxie.
