4 DHS students qualify for state forensics finals
The De Soto High School forensics team had four students qualify for state at its tournament Saturday in Wellsville.
Jessica Pennington and Jhasmine Roddick placed first in duet acting with "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged." Brittney Partlow and Hannah Smith placed third in duet acting with "Wicked."
The team took fifth place out of the 18 teams present at the tournament. Out of 16 entries, the team broke seven events to finals and took home nine medals.
Becca Roberts placed fourth in improvised acting, Ryan Endres placed fourth in political speaking, Jessica Pennington placed fourth in extemporaneous speaking, Trey Klamm placed sixth in serious solo acting and Michaela Frehe and Brittney Partlow placed fourth in improvised duet acting.
De Soto will play host to a forensics tournament Saturday at the high school, meaning it will not compete.
