Three polling places open in De Soto for Tuesday’s primary
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday in three De Soto locations as voters chose candidates for the November general election and decide the fate of the proposed quarter-cent public safety sales tax.
De Soto polling places are:
¢ De Soto VFW Post 6654, 33725 W. 84th St., precincts 1 of oldtown De Soto west and north of Lexington Avenue.
¢ De Soto Baptist Church, 8655 Church St., precincts 2 of the area between Lexington Avenue and Kill Creek Road, and precinct 6 of Clearview City.
¢ De Soto Community Center, 32905 W. 84 St, precinct 3 of De Soto west of Kill Creek.
In addition, Johnson County's four in-person advance voting locations will remain open through Saturday. Those sites are:
¢ Johnson County Election Office, 2101 E. Kansas City Road, Olathe, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 4 at this location only.
¢ Johnson County Northeast Office, 6000 Lamar, Mission, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
¢ Metcalf South Shopping Center, 9531 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
¢ Ten Quivira Plaza, 12156 Shawnee Mission Saturday.
Voters still have little time to return mail-in advance voting ballots. Mail-in ballots must be at the election office by 5 p.m. Friday if they are to be counted. The can be hand-delivered to the election office in Olathe
Sarah Horn, Johnson County election systems manager, said there are 342,095 registered voters in the county for the primary. As of Tuesday,4,000 residents have filled out ballots at the early voting sites and 11,200 of the 21,600 advance mail-in ballots have been returned, she said.
