Authorities identify rollover victim
Authorities have identified the victim of a rollover death in Shawnee as David Ray Gonzalez.
Gonzalez was killed on Saturday, April 12, after being ejected from his vehicle. The delay in releasing his name was due to his family residing outside the United States, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office said.
Johnson County deputies were dispatched about 12:45 p.m. Saturday to a report of a man destroying the DeSoto Laundromat in the 32500 block of Lexington Avenue. He was ramming the building with his truck.
Deputies found a man at Gardner Road going eastbound on 83rd Street, yelling out of his window and swerving into oncoming traffic. He continued on 83rd for a short distance before he rolled his truck at 83rd and Cedar Creek. He was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and subsequently died at the scene.
Investigators also found alcohol at the scene of the accident.
No other injuries were reported as a result of this incident and Gonzalez was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Investigators believe there were customers in the DeSoto Laundromat during this incident who left before deputies arrived. Investigators would like anyone who was at or witnessed this incident to call (913) 782-0720.
