DHS students earn character awards
April 3, 2008
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics named two De Soto High School students Chesney Burgweger and Travis Crow Champions of Character award winners.
The award recognizes high school student-athletes in the Kansas City metropolitan area who displayed the five core character values: respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
The sixth annual presentation of the awards took place March 24 during halftime at the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Championships.
The Champions of Character program is designed to instill an understanding of character values in sport and provide practical tools for student-athletes, coaches and parents to use in modeling exemplary character traits.
Burgweger and Crow were among the 48 recognized with the award.
