Extension council members sought for October election
The election of the Johnson County K-State Research and Extension's 24-member Extension Council will be from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at the county extension office, 11811 S. Sunset Drive, Suite 1500 in Olathe.
Johnson County residents elect individuals who help plan and administer the educational programs, and help decide what types of services are offered in the county. All Johnson County residents 18 years or older are eligible to vote in the election.
Extension also is looking for individuals who would like to run for extension council. The council is divided into four different groups called program development committees. These committees represent four major subject matter areas: agriculture and natural resources; 4-H/youth development; family and consumer sciences; and community development.
With cooperative funding from federal, state and county governments, extension delivers research-based information from land grant colleges and universities to all Americans.
Anyone interested in running for election is asked to call Rick Miller, county extension director, at (913) 715-7000.
