Pancake breakfast to raise money for youth group
WILD, the middle and high school youth group at Kaw Prairie Community Church, will have a pancake breakfast from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at St. James Academy, 24505 Prairie Star Parkway, Lenexa. The school is 1/2 mile west of Kansas Highway 7 on 95th Street.
The breakfast will feature Chris Cakes' pancakes, sausage and more.
Twenty-three Kaw Prairie middle school students will attend Youth Encounter's "St. Louis Quake" Christian three-day youth convention in January. Another 10 Kaw Prairie high school students will attend Planet Wisdom's three-day youth convention in February in Tulsa, Okla.
Funds raised from the breakfast will help defray registration costs of the trips. Donations also will be accepted.
Following the pancake breakfast, the WILD group will head to a farm in Eudora for paintball, goofy games, prayer and s'mores. To participate in paintball, students must be middle or high school aged. There is a $15 fee for paintball supplies.
As a community service project, the WILD group will be raking leaves Nov. 25 for area residents who can't rake their own.
