Prairie Ridge principal resigns
The De Soto USD 232 Board of Education accepted the resignation Monday of Randy Doerksen, who has been a principal in the district for seven years.
Doerksen, currently the principal at Prairie Ridge Elementary in Shawnee, informed the district that he has been offered the position of elementary principal in the Buhler School District. This will permit Doerksen and his immediate family to be closer to his aging parents.
Buhler is Doerksen's hometown.
"Randy has worked tirelessly to build the Prairie Ridge community in
Shawnee. Our families and staff will miss him dearly," said De Soto Superintendent Sharon Zoellner. "I support Randy's decision and understand his deep devotion to his family in Buhler. He will be an outstanding addition to that school community."
Zoellner said the process of searching for his replacement will commence immediately.
Doerksen became principal at Prairie Ridge Elementary with its opening in August 2004. Before that, he was also principal at Clear Creek
Elementary, Shawnee, in the De Soto School District.
