Zoellner given 4.2 percent raise
The De Soto USD 232 Board of Education approved a 2007-2008 contract for Superintendent Sharon Zoellner that includes a 4.2 percent salary increase.
The decision came after the board agreed earlier this year to extend Zoellner's three-year contract another year. Zoellner is now contracted through the 2009-2010 school year.
The contract, which was released Monday, was approved at the board's April 26 meeting with board member Randy Johnson the only no vote.
The contract increased Zoellner's annual salary from $129,908 to $135,994. Her basic compensation -- which includes a mileage allowance for the superintendent's use of her own car for out-of-district travel and a base salary realignment -- increased from $137,764 for the 2006-2007 school year to $162,764 for the coming year. A $604 clothing allowance included in past years was eliminated and moved to Zoellner's base salary.
Fringe benefits, which includes allowances for health and life insurance, cell phone and home Internet plus a catch up provision to bring Zoellner's salary with those in the area, increased the superintendent's compensation package to $180,534, compared to $153,914.
Finally, an annuity of $20,000 -- the same amount figured in the current year -- increased the package to $200,534 compared to $173,914 for 2006-2007.
