Park police looking for dog owner

March 15, 2007

The Johnson County Park Police Department is asking for assistance in locating a dog owner and his brown mixed-breed dog involved in a March 6 dog bite incident in the Shawnee Mission Park off-leash area.

The brown mixed-breed dog weighing approximately 55 to 60 pounds, possibly named "Bear," bit a 28-year-old female victim on the inside part of her left leg as she attempted to separate her dog from the mixed-breed dog that was playing aggressively. The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m.

The owner of the mixed-breed dog is described as being a younger white male, 5 feet 11 inches to more than 6 feet tall, 300 to 315 pounds and may be balding or have a shaved head.

A flier has been posted at the off leash area in an attempt to locate the white male and his mixed-breed dog.

Anyone with information or identity of the dog owner and/or his dog is asked to call the Johnson County Sheriff's dispatcher at (913) 782-0720 or Captain Stuart Foland at (913) 894-3360.
