Canoe race now set for July 7
The Kansas River canoe race postponed after heavy rains in May has been rescheduled for July 7.
The race from Eudora to De Soto is in conjunction with the sesquicentennial celebrations of the two cities and their association with the river.
Registrations and an entry fee of $20 for each two-member team will be collected beginning at 8:15 a.m. the day of the race with launch time scheduled for 9 a.m.
All participants will be expected to follow water safety practices while on their 12.5-mile journey downstream to De Soto.
The winning team will receive all the prize money plus a traveling trophy.
