De Soto artwork sought
The De Soto Sesquicentennial Art Exhibition Committee is seeking two-dimensional artwork for the juried art show "Finding a Sense of Place."
The show will run from Sept. 19 to Sept. 23. The deadline for artists to submit work for consideration is Friday.
Artists are asked to submit digital images on a CD of an original piece of art reflecting a contemporary or historic aspect of De Sot. Up to three pieces can be submitted, but only one will be selected. There is a $20 entry fee.
The show will be judged by Judith McCrea, Kansas University art professor and 13-year chair of the school's art department from 1993 to 2006. The best in show will receive a $1,000 cash prize while second- and third-place pieces will receive $500 and $250, respectively.
