Beck named to Class 5A-1A team

June 14, 2007

Katie Beck was one of three De Soto girls soccer players selected to Class 5A-1A all-state teams. It marks the second straight year the senior sweeper has earned such an honor, but the first time a Wildcat girls soccer player has ever been named to the all-state first team.

Beck, one of five seniors on this year's squad, led the team's defensive efforts and helped the Cats to their best season ever, an 11-7 campaign that ended in the regional championship game.

Beck will play next season at Avila University in Kansas City, Mo.

Beck was joined on the teams by two other Cats. Both freshman Carly Stanley and junior Nicole Radcliffe were named to the second team. Stanley led De Soto in goals in her first high school season, scoring 21 goals and logging nine assists.

Radcliffe was second on the team with 16 goals and seven assists.
