Referendum voter registration deadline Sept. 4
Ballots for the De Soto School District 232 bond issue will be mailed to registered voters Aug. 18.
Voters will answer two questions on the ballot. The first question will include $51 million in special programs, building additions, land acquisition and technology needs. The second question includes the construction of two performing arts centers and artificial turf at both high schools for $19.5 million. The first question must pass for the second question to pass.
The mail ballot will cost about $2.50 per registered voter. District officials estimate the cost will total at least $37,500.
Ballots must be received by noon Sept. 18 at the Johnson County Election Office, 2101 E. Kansas City Road, Olathe.
Preliminary election results will be available Sept. 18. Official results, including provisional ballots, will be reported Sept. 24.
Residents who are not registered have until Sept. 4 to do so and be eligible for the election. Voter registration is available at any of the Johnson County libraries or at the election office.
De Soto school district officials will have an informational meeting on the bond at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at De Soto High School.
