Dvorak named Engineer of the Year
Kent Dvorak of Terracon's Lenexa office and a De Soto resident, received the Kansas Society of Professional Engineers Engineer of the Year award at the 2007 annual conference June 21 in Topeka. Dvorak was eligible after winning the Eastern Chapter Engineer of the Year award in February.
With the KSPE, Dvorak has served on the board of the Eastern Chapter and was its president in 1994. Dvorak also received the Young Engineer of the Year award in 1989 and 1991. He has served as a state director of KSPE and on the state awards committee for three years, two years as chairman.
The Kansas Engineer of the Year award is based on NSPE/KSPE membership and activities; awards, recognitions and engineering achievements; published papers; continuing education; and technical society and civic organization involvement.
Dvorak has been with Terracon since 1982. He started as a field engineer and worked his way up to assistant department manager, construction services department manager and, currently, a division business development manager. He has been a member of the KSPE, American Society of Civil Engineers, Engineer's Club, Society of American Military Engineers, International Code Council and National Society of Professional Engineers.
