"Go Fly a Kite," a program for youth ages 12 to 18, will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 16 at the De Soto Library, 33145 W. 83rd St., De Soto.
Participants will learn to build an indoor kite from household materials and explore how kites use the wind to overcome gravity, even indoors.

"It's Not Rocket Science ... or maybe it is" is this year's theme for the 2007 adult winter reading program at the De Soto Library, 33145 W. 83rd St.
The program runs through March 31 and is for participants 14 years old and older. It encourages participants to read or listen to books with a science theme in conjunction with the library's Science Inc program focus for 2007.
Participants are asked to read six books from among the six reading categories and may record them in a reading log, which is available at any Johnson County library branch as well as online at www.jocolibrary.org/readerscorner.

A special program designed for homeschoolers, "Ode to the Peanut" will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 23 at the library.
Participants will learn about the peanut, its history and uses. The program is for youth ages 7 to 13.

The De Soto Library offers an adult book discussion at 1 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at the library.
The group will discuss "The Old Wine Shades" by Martha Grimes at its Feb. 7 session.

Preschool storytime, for youth ages 3 to 6 will be at 10:30 a.m. Fridays through Feb. 9. Stories, rhymes and songs will take place. An adult must accompany children. Registration is not required.

The De Soto Library hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
