Residents living in and around the De Soto community can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke during a Life Line Screening clinic Wednesday at the De Soto Senior Center, 32905 W. 84th St. Appointments will begin at 9 a.m.
The vascular screenings involve the use of ultrasound technology and scan for potential health problems related to blocked arteries which can lead to a stroke, aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta and hardening of the arteries in the legs, which are a strong predictor of heart disease. A bone density screening is also offered for men and women to assess their risk for osteoporosis.
There is a charge for the vascular screening package and the osteoporosis screening.
For more information regarding the screenings or to schedule an appointment, call (800) 697-9721 or visit the Web site at www.lifelinescreening.com. Pre-registration is required.
