Obituary: Othie E. Johnson
Funeral services for Othie Eugene Johnson, 85, Eudora, were Saturday, Jan. 6, at Clearfield Church in Clearfield. Burial was at Clearfield Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 19, 1921, at the family home in rural Eudora, the son of Grover and Emma Brecheisen Johnson. He was a lifelong resident of the Eudora area and attended Clearfield schools.
Mr. Johnson worked on his farm, where he also raised cattle. He worked for the railroad and cut hedge in Lane and Rantoul. He also worked at Sunflower Ammunition Plant during World War II and in the 1950s. He worked for a short time for Kuhn International Dealership in Lawrence and hauled gravel commercially and residentially.
He married Bernice Carpenter on Nov. 13, 1943. She died in 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Johnson, Eudora; a son, Harold Johnson, Baldwin City; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
