Transit rides available
The city of De Soto, Johnson County Transit and the Mr. Goodcents Foundation for Senior Citizen Independence have worked together to bring a transit service to De Soto residents.
The twice-weekly service is available to all De Soto residents.
The service has a designated route with scheduled times. Riders can be picked up and dropped off at a home or business with an advance reservation.
The system will operate each Tuesday and Wednesday, providing a different route for each day.
The route on Tuesdays begins at 10 a.m. at Clearview City Clubhouse and continues to Shawnee with stops at Prospector's Point, the De Soto Library, De Soto Senior Center, Valley Springs, Monticello shops and Shawnee Station.
The Wednesday route connects at 10 a.m. at Clearview City Clubhouse and continues to Prospector's Point, downtown De Soto, the De Soto Library, De Soto Senior Center, Dollar General and Valley Springs.
Riders who are 12 years of age or under will need to ride with an adult.
Riders will be able to request a curbside pick-up and drop-off to and from any location within the De Soto city limits by calling the toll-free reservation line, (913) 397-7300.
Riders will also be able to board and de-board the bus at any of the designated transit stops. Service will be offered year-round from approximately 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, excluding holidays.
