Bond addresses safety
I am so excited about the current bond issue in the De Soto USD 232 School District. I have children at Clear Creek Elementary and Mill Valley High schools and have become accustomed to the secure main entrances at our elementary and middle schools and am so pleased that security entrances will be added to both of the high schools and Lexington Trails Middle School.
A secured main entrance is part of a much needed expansion at Mill Valley. With the unfortunate events at other high schools and colleges in the past years, I am relieved that our board of education is addressing the need to have a single, secured entrance at every school in the district. This move will help increase the safety of not just the students, but the teachers and staff as well.
With many varied needs being addressed by the school bond issue, like classroom additions to four of the elementary schools and an Early Childhood Center, I hope that voters remember our schools also should be as safe a place as we can make them for our most precious assets.
