Extension elections Oct. 5
The election of the 24-member Johnson County Extension Council will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Johnson County K-State Research and Extension office, 11811 S. Sunset Drive, Suite 1500 in Olathe. Johnson County residents 18 years and older are eligible to vote. A driver's license is required to verify age and residency.
Representatives elected to the county Extension Council participate in and influence decisions that affect extension and the Johnson County community.
Members of the four program development committees (agriculture and natural resources, family and consumer sciences, 4-H and youth development, and economic development) plan, implement and evaluate extension educational programming and services.
The newly elected 24-member council will have its annual meeting Oct. 24 and elect the nine-member Johnson County Extension Board.
This year's elections are particularly important because the board will be responsible for hiring three new county agents.
Individuals who are interested in running for extension council should call the Johnson County Extension office at (913) 715-7000.
