DHS students named honor scholars
De Soto High School seniors Kathryn Beaver, Kathryn Beck, Ronald Davidson, Christina Davis, Austin De Graeve, Morgan Frehe, Kyle Groen, Leslie Hodges, Holly Linduff, Alexandra Prosser and Jordan Smith were among the 208 seniors from nine high schools in Johnson County to be named Kansas Honor Scholars by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
An awards ceremony took place Oct. 23 at Blue Valley West High School.
The Kansas Honors Program recognizes the outstanding academic achievements of Kansas high school seniors. The program, which began in 1971, honors students each year through regional programs in all 105 Kansas counties. This year, the program will honor its 100,000th student. Scholars rank in the top 10 percent of their high school senior class and are selected regardless of curricula, majors, occupational plans or higher-education goals.
Each Kansas Honor Scholar received a Kansas Honors Program certificate and a special Kansas Honors Program edition of "The American Heritage Dictionary."
