It was a race seemingly just like any other — it was the same four-kilometer distance, the course was unique, but familiar at the same time and the one-foot-in-front-of-the-other strategy prevailed yet again. But De Soto coach Chris McAfee said the race his girls entered Saturday at the annual Rim Rock Cross Country Classic near Lawrence was one fraught with danger, unknowns and risk — all making the race the team ran Saturday perhaps the season’s best.
