TeamBank’s Moore elected De Soto C of C president
David Moore doesn't have any grand plans as the next president of the De Soto Chamber of Commerce because he figures keeping up the tradition of recent presidents is grand enough.
"I will carry over the chamber's momentum and continue to add members," he said.
The chamber added 35 members last year and now has 172 members.
Moore, vice president of commercial and real estate lending with De Soto TeamBank, was elected president of the chamber last Thursday at the organization's monthly meeting. Jill Wilks of TeamBank was elected vice president while winning re-election were Kathy Beck as secretary and Jennifer Chick as treasurer.
Moore said he wanted to build on the success of last month's chamber blues and barbecue that raised $5,000. He would like to see it become an all-day event next year, he said, with more bands and an inflatable children's playground.
The chamber has agreed to sponsor the barbecue contest that has been at Zimmerman's Kill Creek Farm the past three years, Moore said. Earlier this month, the De Soto City Council agreed to make the area near the boat ramp available for that contest.
Moore said his goal was to have the blues and barbecue contest at the boat ramp area in 2008 after the improvements are made to the site.
