Homeschoolers have successful food drive
Several members of the De Soto Homeschool Group participated in a food drive Nov. 4 for the local food pantry. The group distributed fliers in neighborhoods around town earlier in the week, then went back Nov. 4 to collect the donations.
More than 1,200 pounds of food/supplies were collected.
"My children thoroughly enjoyed participating in every part of the food drive," Debra Holloman said. "They enjoyed walking through our neighborhood, handing out fliers, meeting people at their doors, and then ultimately picking up donations from our neighbor's porches.
"It is so rewarding to see my children enjoying doing something to help other people. They are already looking forward to doing this again next year."
Ten-year-old Jessica Gulley said she liked putting all the food away and helping people take the food baskets to their cars.
