Libby Stone, 20, was diagnosed with the rare maple syrup urine disease when she was 13 days old. She is one of two Kansas residents known to have the disease, which occurs in one in about 225,000 births. She is on the liver transplant list for a new liver. The family will need to charter a jet to fly Stone to Pittsburgh, Pa., once a suitable match is available. The cost of the chartered jet is $10,000, which is not covered by insurance.
