How they voted

May 11, 2006

The Kansas House and Senate approved Tuesday the Conference Committee Report on Senate Bill 549, which provides an additional $466.2 million to finance the state's public schools, and sent it to Gov. Kathleen Sebelius for consideration.

The plan would phase in the increase in aid to public schools over three years. It also includes $75 million in contributions to teacher pensions, raising the total package to $541 million. The bill would rely on existing revenues to support the new spending.

The House passed the measure 66-54, and the Senate approved it in a 21-18 vote.

Here's how area lawmakers voted on the bill.

De Soto's representative in the Legislature, Rep. Anthony Brown, and Sen. Kay O'Connor, both voted against the measure.
