County budget hearing Monday
The Johnson County Commission will have a preliminary hearing for the 2007 budget at 7 p.m. Monday in the commission's regular hearing room on the third floor of the Johnson County Administration Building, 111 South Cherry St., Olathe.
The hearing is scheduled to allow public discussion and citizen comments in preparation of the proposed 2007 Budget for Johnson County Government.
C management, department and agency representatives and staff from the Johnson County Budget and Financial Reporting Department will be on hand to discuss the budget process, present an overview of the 671.4 million 2006 budget and respond to questions.
County Manager Michael Press will present the proposed 2007 budget to commissioners June 7 and 8.
A final public hearing on the new budget, with changes and modifications supported by commissioners, is scheduled for July 31.
The commission is scheduled to approve the new budget Aug. 17.
By state law, the commission must adopt the county's 2007 budget by Aug. 25.
