Juniors share basketball award
De Soto juniors Jackie Goleman and Kira Gonzalez split the girls basketball team's most valuable player award as voted on by their teammates.
The awards were presented at the team's annual banquet Wednesday night.
Goleman led the Wildcats in both points and rebounds with 14.86 points per game and 8.48 rebounds. Gonzalez was second in both categories with 10.24 points and 5.38 rebounds.
Wildcat Junior Jeni Hill was selected as the most improved player. Hill played in 10 games and scored six points.
Senior Stephanie Hoover was selected for the "trashcan" award, annually given to the most selfless, hard-working player.
Hoover scored 2.63 points per game in 19 appearances and averaged 1.63 rebounds.
