Thieves strike Asbells
A reward is being offered for the return of a four-wheel drive vehicle stolen last month from the barn of JD and Candace Asbell.
The vehicle was reported missing Feb. 17 and was last seen in the barn Feb. 13. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
"I believe they drove it right out of our barn," Candace Asbell said, estimating the red Artic Cat's value to be about $7,000.
It is the second time within the year that thieves have struck at the couple's homestead on Waverly Road near 104th Street, Asbell said. Last spring, thieves took two dirt bikes from the property worth between $4,000 and $5,000, she said.
Asbell said she and her husband were offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons who stole the Artic Cat.
"We'd just like to see them stopped before they move on to something else," she said.
