Citizens Academy offered

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for upcoming Sheriff's Citizens Academy classes.
The Sheriff's Citizens Academy is intended to give an overview of the activities of the Johnson County Sheriff's Office and to offer the opportunity for citizens in Johnson County to learn more about modern law enforcement techniques.
The course will consist of more than 45 hours of instruction from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays for 13 consecutive weeks. One optional four-hour session will take place on a Saturday.
The academy is open to any Johnson County citizen who is 18 years of age or older and who passes a records and background check. Applicants must also provide personal references.

Applications may also be picked up at the Sheriff's office operations building, 27747 W. 159th St., New Century.
