Andrew J. Markwart
Services for Andrew J. Markwart, Shawnee, were Wednesday, March 1, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Overland Park.
Mr. Markwart died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006.
He was born Nov. 3, 1962, in Yale, Mich., the son of Robert and Audrey Markwart.
He graduated from Capac High School and Michigan State University with a bachelor of arts degree in communications.
Mr. Markwart worked for the National FFA Organization, Prairie Farmer, CyberCrop and Deere and Company. Most recently, he was editor of The Furrow and Homestead magazines.
He played bass guitar, harmonica and sang in several bands throughout his life. During college, he was a member of the PinHeads. Later, he played with QuasiMojo. He was an active member of the Kaw Prairie Community Church where he played in the praise band.
He married Thelma Schoon-maker on Sept. 4, 1993. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two children, Marlaina and Owen, both of the home; his parents; two brothers, Terry Markwart and Luther Markwart; and three sisters, Julie Magneson, Melanie Arnold and Heidi Devereux.
