Ingalls participates in pharmacy camp
James Ingalls, De Soto, was one of 23 high school juniors and seniors from four states who participated recently in the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy summer camp.
Students from Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas and Nebraska learned what pharmacists do in their daily routines; the education and skills needed to become a pharmacist; and the code of ethics and professionalism standards that guide the pharmacy profession.
In addition to learning about career opportunities in the pharmacy profession and the pharmacy education curriculum at KU, the camp participants learned how to conduct blood glucose, cholesterol and hypertension screenings, prescription compounding techniques and the prescription dispensing process. Participants also spent one day touring area hospital, retail and specialty pharmacies as well as pharmacy research facilities at KU.
