JoCo Art Fest seeks entries
The organizers of Johnson County Art Fest 2006 are seeking entries for an exhibit showcasing county artists later in the year.
The second annual exhibition will be Nov. 5 to 19 at the Ernie Miller Nature Center in Olathe. The deadline for entries is Aug. 1.
Sponsored by Columbian Bank and the Johnson County Park and Recreation District, Art Fest 2006 is open to previously juried artists currently residing in Johnson County who are 21 years of age or older. The exhibition is limited to wall-mounted art including paintings, ceramics, pottery and weaving.
For an entry fee of $15, artists may submit up to three works of art for consideration. Only one piece of art per artist may be selected for the exhibition.

Prizes and awards for the show will total $3,750. In addition to awards for best of show ($1,000), second prize ($500) and third prize ($150), there will also be purchase awards totaling $2,000 for art to be placed on permanent display in Johnson County Park and Recreation District facilities.
The jurors for Art Fest 2006 are Mark Spencer, creative resource manager at Hallmark Cards and former curator for the Albrecht-Kemper Museum; Ellen Wolf, award-winning retired art educator and current member of the Kansas/Missouri National Organization of Women in the Arts board; and Ellen R. Goheen, lecturer, author, and former director of collections of 20th century art at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
The Art Fest organizing committee consists of Robert G. Endres, Randy Knight, A. J. LoScalzo, Alberta McGrath and Nancy Wallerstein.
