UPDATE — Erisman advances to finals
Erisman won his three Friday matches with out any real problems. He was one of only two 171-pound wrestlers to post a pin, using it to advance past Curt Zahm of Columbus in the first round. Erisman beat Jameon Rush of Clay Center in the quarterfinals, notching a technical fall with a 16-1 score.
Erisman's closest match was his final one. He still won without much sweat however. Leading 2-0 after one round, Chapman's WIll Irvine closed the gap to one point, but Erisman quickly added five more. Irvine registered an escape as time expired, setting the final score at 7-2.
Erisman will face Dustin Bartlett of Atchison Saturday for the state title. Barlett has lost only once all season, though didn't advance through his bracket with quite the ease Erisman did. He advanced to the finals with a 2-1 victory over Dakotah Gettler.
The match will likely begin after 7 p.m. Both wrestlers will take part in the Parade of Champions at 6:15 p.m., then the final round matches will begin at 6:30. The 171-pound match will be the 11th of the 14 final matches set to be wrestled one at a time.
