The De Soto Library offers an adult book discussion at 1 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at the library, 33145 W. 83rd St.
The group chooses a book -- anything from classics to murder mysteries to romance.
The book for the Jan. 3 discussion will be "Ella Minnow Pea" by Mark Dunn.
"It's Not Rocket Science ... or maybe it is" is this year's theme for the 2007 adult winter reading program at the De Soto Library.
The program runs Jan. 2 to March 31 and is for participants 14 years old and older. It encourages participants to read or listen to books with a science theme in conjunction with the library's Science Inc program focus for 2007.
Participants are asked to read six books from among the six reading categories and may record them in a reading log, which is available at any Johnson County library branch as well as online at www.jocolibrary.org/readerscorner.
Preschool storytime, for youth ages 3 to 6 will be at 10:30 a.m. Fridays from Jan. 5 to Feb. 9. Stories, rhymes and songs will take place. An adult must accompany children. Registration is not required.
The De Soto Library hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
