Thelma L. Bowes
Services for Thelma Louise Bowes, Emporia, were Monday, Aug. 29, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Louisburg. She was cremated. Burial was at the Glenwild Cemetery near Cleveland, Mo.
Mrs. Bowes died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at the Hillside Village Nursing Center in De Soto.
She was born at her parent's home near Bucyrus, the daughter of Henry and Johanna Schecher Spielbusch.
Mrs. Bowes was a lifelong Kansas resident and lived in the Louisburg-Wea area for more than 40 years.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia.
Her husband, Kenneth Bowes, died in 1967.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda West, De Soto; two sons, Stephen Bowes, Longmont, Colo., and Alan Bowes, Medford, Ore.; two brothers, Bernard Spielbusch, Drexel, Mo., and Joseph Spielbusch, Independence, Mo.; and a sister, Ethel Strausbaugh, Camdenton, Mo.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A granddaughter, Stephanie, died in 1988.
The family suggests memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 101 Cottonwood, Emporia 66801.
Wilson and Sons Funeral Home in Louisburg was in charge of arrangements.
