Soccer falls 3-1 to Bonner, end season at .500
The De Soto soccer team won its rescheduled game, beating Maur Hill 1-0 on Wednesday, but lost in the regional championship to Bonner Springs, 3-1.
De Soto grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half, and held on into the second. The defense was solid for most of the game, but it couldn't hold up forever. De Soto was playing without Lance Williams, De Soto's senior sweeper who had been key in the Wildcats' defense all season. He missed the game after picking up a red card against Maur Hill.
A Bonner goal got by 10 minutes into the second half, however, and the Braves scored again on a penelty kick with about 10 minutes remaining.
De Soto finished the season 9-9.
