Jacob Michaelis

Memorial services for Jacob Michaelis, 86, De Soto, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Federated Church in Mound City. Inurnment will be at 4:30 p.m. at Corinth Cemetery, 83rd and Mission Road, Prairie Village.
Mr. Michaelis died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, in Overland Park.
He was born Jan. 4, 1919, in Russell County, the son of Henry John and Pauline Reuber Michaelis. He had lived in the De Soto area since January 2005 and previously in Mound City since 1975.
Mr. Michaelis was a World War II veteran. He served overseas from 1942 to 1945.
He was a builder and retired in 1976.
He married Betty Russback on Sept. 8, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo. She died earlier.
Survivors include two sons, Terry Michaelis, De Soto, and Monte Michaelis, Shawnee; and a daughter, Kathy Graves, Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association.
Heartland Cremation and Burial Society was in charge of arrangements.
