Services for Glenn F. Sims, 78, Lawrence, were Tuesday, July 12, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial with military honors by American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Sims died Friday, July 8, 2005, at his home.
He was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Waynesburg, Ky., the son of Claud and Rachel Jones Sims. He grew up in Kentucky.
Mr. Sims served in the U.S. Army Air Forces from Feb. 8, 1946, to Jan. 29, 1947. He worked for Hercules at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant near De Soto, the Firestone Co. in Lawrence, and owned a restaurant. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lawrence, Lawrence Baptist Temple and a singing quartet at Emmanuel Baptist Church in New Castle, Ind.
He married Natialene Bone on Oct. 3, 1946, in Biloxi, Miss. She died Dec. 12, 1994.
Survivors include a son, Anthony Sims, Lawrence; four daughters, Patricia Lawson, Lecompton, and Janet Bailey, Elizabeth Seele and Claudia Smith, all of Lawrence; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care in Douglas County, sent in care of the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1260, Lawrence 66044.
