Roy D. Cowan

Services for Roy D. Cowan, 97, De Soto, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark, Ark. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery, Ozark.
Mr. Cowan died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at his home.
He was born may 31, 1907, in Jethro, Ark., the son of P.A. and Nancy Brison Cowan. He moved to De Soto 43 years ago from Ozark.
Mr. Cowan was a tram driver for Hercules Powder Plant in De Soto. He was also a construction worker for O'Donnell Company in Olathe. He retired in 1971.
He was a member of International Faith Builders in De Soto.
He married Martha Childers on Jan. 5, 1930. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Gelene S. Wilkinson, Ozark, and Joyce Brown, De Soto; two sons, Marvin R. Cowan and John B. Cowan, both of De Soto; a brother, Bill Cowan, Ozark; three sisters, Lucy Freeman, Altus, Ark., Edna Moody, Ozark, and Cora Childers, England, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Four brothers, Houston Cowan, Homer Cowan, Eulis Cowan and Hulit Cowan, preceded him in death.
The family suggests memorials to Crossroads Hospice, sent in care of Bruce Funeral Home, P.O. Box 192, Gardner 66030.
