Myrtle R. Puckett

Graveside services for Myrtle Ruth Puckett, 90, Wellsville, formerly of De Soto, were Monday, Aug. 1, at Monticello Union Cemetery in Shawnee.
Mrs. Puckett died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital in Gardner.
She was born April 28, 1915, in rural Johnson County, the daughter of James Ed and Judith LaVina McLeod Johnson. She was a lifelong area resident and had lived at Gardner Lake, De Soto and Wellsville. She wintered in South Texas for 30 years.
Mrs. Puckett was a switchboard operator for the telephone company in De Soto for many years. She also worked part-time in the family business, J&P Trucking Company.
She married Willard Wiley "Pete" Puckett on Jan. 29, 1945. He died in 1989.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Ann Morrison, Lawrence; two sisters, Cecil Jenks, De Soto, and Helen Barthol, Olathe; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Clarence "Bill" Johnson and Ernest "Ernie" Johnson, preceded her in death.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, sent in care of the Bruce Funeral Home, P.O. Box 192, Gardner 66030.
